Optimizing The Role of The Directorate General of Acceleration of Disadvantage Regions Development In Planning for Accelerating The Development of Disadvantage Regions

The phenomenon that underlies this policy paper is the role of the Directorate General of Acceleration of Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Ditjen PPDT) in implementing the alleviation of disadvantaged areas which consider not optimal enough. This year of 2024 will be the final year for the National Strategy for the Acceleration of Development of Disadvantaged Regions (STRANAS PPDT) for 2020-2024 and the Medium Long Term Development Plan (RPJMN) for 2020-2024. Up until 2024, the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT) is running a target of decreasing the underdeveloped regions in the 2020-2024 RPJMN to 25 regions, from 62 disadvantaged regions. This study aims to: (1) identify the root of the problem of the non-optimal role of the Directorate General of Acceleration of Development of Disadvantaged Regions in order to eliminate the disadvantaged areas; (2) contribute to the understanding of current issues related to disadvantage region; and (3) develop policy recommendations to optimize the role of the Directorate General of PPDT in order to eliminate the disadvantaged areas. This policy paper uses normative qualitative analysis based on applicable laws and regulations. The data used is secondary data from legal and regulatory literature, and the other policy studies and report documents related to accelerating the development of underdeveloped region.
