Review of the Rural Area Development Index

Rural Area Development Index (IPKP) is a measure created to assess the level of development of rural area development, with villages that are part of a rural area as the unit of analysis. However, the IPKP data available is only up to 2022, and there has been no further update after that. This condition is caused, among other things, by the indicators/variables in measuring IPKP not being compatible, there being no correlation between IDM and IPKP values, variable inconsistencies between IDM and IPKP, data collection methods, and various other things. Therefore, it is important to review and find out whether the IPKP is still relevant to use or whether development and updating of the dimensions and variables in the IPKP is needed so that it can represent a comprehensive picture of the condition of rural areas. As a result of the review, it is necessary to consider developing the IPKP dimensions, which previously consisted of 5 dimensions, into 7 dimensions, namely Economy, Socio-Culture, Education, Health, Environment, Network Infrastructure and Facilities, and Technology and Information. The direction of this IPKP review includes, among other things, dimensions that represent each aspect of IPKP measurement, indicators for each dimension, methods of data collection and index measurement, the status of rural areas, and other necessary matters.
