This policy analysis discusses the importance of strategies to strengthening main commodities in the Lagita Transmigration Area, North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province. Despite having great potential, this area faces various challenges in increasing the added value and competitiveness of its main commodities, especially palm oil. The analysis shows that environmental factors, limited human resources (HR), and suboptimal institutions are the main causes of low productivity.
The recommended policy suggestions include drafting regional regulations for the development of the palm leaf craft industry, setting minimum selling prices for agricultural commodities, and providing natural preservation technology assistance. Alternative policies include training and certification programs, building partnerships with industries and international markets, and providing capital assistance and incentives to transmigrant cooperatives.
