Food is a basic need that is very important for human survival. For the Indonesian, food is identical with rice, which is the main staple food. Currently, Indonesia is making efforts to build a new capital city (IKN) in East Kalimantan Province. The increasing demand for rice in East Kalimantan Province requires supplies from other regions. This research uses a qualitative analysis method to determine the strategy and the role of transmigration areas in supporting the food supply for IKN in the Lamunti-Dadahup Transmigration Area, Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan. Data collection techniques use interviews, designed to obtain perceptions and experiences from various local government agencies and communities in Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan. The role of the Transmigration Area in supporting the food supply for IKN can be analyzed through the pillars of food security, namely the aspect of availability in the production of food commodities and the aspect of affordability in the distribution of the food supply chain. The analysis shows Kapuas Regency produces an annual rice surplus of 99,191.57 tons, approaching the rice needs for IKN. Meanwhile, the remaining rice needs for IKN will be supplied from KT Lamunti-Dadahup amounting to 7,612.5 tons, considering this area contributes 24.23 percent or around 24,033 tons of the total rice surplus of Kapuas Regency.
